Fitness to me is more than just exercise, to feel good you also need to eat well. And what better place to start than with the breakfast.
Here are three very healthy breakfast ideas, that also give you the energy you need to train:
1. Quick and Tasty
Try this simple and delicious banana pancake recipe :
All you need is a ripe banana and two eggs. Mix the banana together with the eggs. Fry on medium heat using coconut oil. You can add berries, grated coconut and/or cinnamon.
The coconut oil will keep you energized and feeling full longer, and the eggs contain healthy omega-3 fats that will keep you energized until lunchtime, and they are packed with nutrition.
Coconut fat, like eggs, has an unfortunate bad reputation, but recent studies has shown it to be very good for our health, and it contains extremely high levels of lauric acid, which is a natural antibiotic and also kills viruses. It can actually help you burn fat, according to this Body Building article.
Add berries and cinnamon for extra antioxidants, also very important for keeping fit.
2. Power Breakfast
If you exercise a lot you need protein, nourishment and healthy fats to make sure you have energy enough.
Eggs are a perfect food for athletes, whether fried, boiled, or in an omelet. An omelet is always a great option, since you can easily add the vegetables that you like to the other ingredients.
Unfortunately eggs have had a bad rep for a while, for having a high fat content, but recent research has revealed that the fat in eggs is really very healthy for us.
3. Quick, Raw and Healthy
If you are like me, you don’t have much of an appetite in the mornings. And I really do not believe that you should eat when you are not hungry.
For me this is the perfect start of the day on those days, all you need is a blender.
Green smoothie
Carrot Apple Ginger: blend carrot, apple and a little bit of ginger. If one apple is not sweet enough for you, add a bit of honey.
Fruit smoothie
Tropical flavour: blend banana, pineapple and shredded coconut.
You can also add a bit of coconut oil or cinnamon.
Cinnamon contains an extremely high level of antioxidants, and adds a lovely flavour.
