Types of Portable Saunas

Portable saunas are great because they take up little space, and come at a very affordable price. You can get a great sweat session, without having to pay anywhere near as much as with a regular sauna, and you dont have to travel to the gym to use their facilities. There are basically two types of portable saunas:

Portable Far Infrared Saunas

These saunas use infrared heaters instead of traditional heat sources in order to heat the box. Infrared saunas cause the body to heat up quickly even though they operate at a lower temperature. It has been claimed that infrared saunas have a deeper penetration than regular saunas, or steam saunas, and for this reason they are preferred for people looking to detox.

Portable Steam Saunas

Steam saunas use steam generators to create steam in the sauna box. It can take a little while to get the steam started, so a certain degree of planning is necessary. You can also add herbs to your steam sauna to easily create a relaxing herbal sauna. They get hot, but not uncomfortably so, and you can sit and relax, and use the arm holes in the box to read a book or a magazine or use your smartphone.

Tips for Using a Portable Sauna

Adding fresh or dried herbs to your steam sauna creates extra relaxation and stress relief.

Portable steam saunas take some time to get warmed up, so plan a bit ahead and allow it some time to get hot.

If you plan to be in the sauna for sometime, it can be nice to have some entertainment nearby. Make sure the TV is directed your way, or keep your smartphone or books very near the sauna so that you can reach them though the arm holes in the sauna box.

Adding herbs to the water boiler is possible in most cases, and creates a very relaxing herbal sauna that can do you a lot of good, and release stress. Just put dried or fresh herbs in the water and it will create herbal steam.

Your head will stick out of the sauna, and if you feel that you get too hot you can keep some water and a wet towel nearby, so that you dont have to go outside the sauna to get it.

It can be uncomfortable to get sweat running in your face and into your eyes, so if the sauna is very hot this tip will make it more comfortable.

Put on some relaxing music to set the mood, and enhance the relaxing stress reducing experience.

Taking a break after the first session, and taking a cold shower before entering the sauna again can feel amazing.

If you really want to get your head and face into your portable sauna, you have to sit down on the floor without a chair, which is possible to do in some of the saunas.

Portable Sauna vs. Regular Sauna

A portable sauna has a lot of benefits vs a regular sauna. It is easier to setup, it costs less, and it produces pretty much the same healthy sweating. If you dont have much space in your home, or you are on a budget, then it is a great choice.

However with a decent size regular sauna you can lie down and relax, and they have the comforting and relaxing smell of wood. It is a thing of luxury that also can be very good for you health.

You can also get the effects of your sauna on your head and face, which you generally will not get with the portable saunas. Some of the portable saunas have head mounts, but they tend to not get the head to the same temperature as the body. Check out this page if you want to find a good infrared sauna.

Sauna for Health

A Finnish study published in JAMA recently showed that regular sauna bathing reduces the risk of heart disease.

Humans have been using saunas throughout the years to try and flush disease and toxins out of the body and feel better. The skin is the biggest organ in the body and is believed to play a major role in detoxifying the body. The skin produces sweat to regulate the body’s elevated temperature.

Doctors and scientists are beginning to acknowledge what our ancestors instinctively believed, that regular sweating restores good health by getting rid of toxins. A Finnish study in the JAMA American Medicine found that men who used saunas on a regular basis were much less likely to die from stroke and cardiovascular disease.

Saunas are a great way to rejuvenate yourself. All of these lightweight, portable saunas are perfect for a house or apartment. Saunas are a great way to stay fit, relax and combat stress.
